Slight niggles

No. of km done: 321
No. of km to target: 679
Conditions: Sunny and very warm
Starting music: Jesus Says by Ash
Finishing music: Teenage Steve McQueen by The Automatic

Well this is a bit annoying. Two of my runs have been logged on my Nike+ thingy but stubbornly refuse to upload, making it appear that I'm 15 miles behind when I'm not. On top of that, I've had a few slight twinges with my achilles tendon on my left leg around my ankle. I had a really bad strain last year that pretty much stopped me running for a couple of months, so I'm taking it very gently to make sure it doesn't go again - while the distance I do per week isn't hard, the whole challenge aspect of this, er, challenge was the consistency element. I can afford the odd missed day as I can easily catch that up, and could probably even lose a week as long as I did a few slightly longer runs later on. But losing a couple of months would really screw things up - and then I'd be pushing so hard to catch up I'd be at risk of giving myself another injury and setting myself back even more.

Hopefully the technological gremlins will sort themselves out next time I upload a new run. For my physical gremlins, I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed!

Hot stuff

No. of km done: 303
No. of km to target: 697
Conditions: Sunny and very warm
Starting music: Another Way to Die by Jack White/Alicia Keys
Finishing music: Apply Some Pressure by Maximo Park

Whoof - really, really quite warm today. I've been back 10 minutes and I'm still sweating LOTS. Definitely going to have to start going before 10-11am-ish soon or I'll be roasting.

Another small milestone today - 300 km done, 700 km to go. And amazingly, I'm not bored of the route yet! Give it another few months though and I'm sure I'll be utterly sick of it :)

Awesome work by all the marathon runners this weekend - I'd have loved to have been able to do that too (and it would have been a fairly hefty chunk of the 1000 km as a bonus!) but didn't get in. Next year hopefully!

Bit of a mixed week

No. of km done: 295
No. of km to target: 705
Conditions: Sunny
Starting music: Rebel Rebel by David Bowie
Finishing music: That's Not My Name by the Ting Tings

Went out for a run on Wednesday as usual, but it ended up being a bit shorter than expected because I had the none too pleasant experience of finding a dead dog that someone had decided to drown in a bin bag in the canal. Really, really horrible thing to do. I phoned the RSPCA to recover the body in the hope that they might be able to find out who's dog it was and (perhaps) get someone for doing it.

Then yesterday, I was briefly chased by a swan. Understandable, though, as I realised on the way back I was running quite close to where Mrs Swan had made her nest and obviously had a couple of eggs on the go. Will try and grab a picture of this next week (assuming I don't get a good beaking for getting too close!).

And just a quick note to say good luck to anyone doing the London Marathon this weekend. I've done 20 miles this week spread over 5 days and I'm knackered, so much respect!

Oooh, my legs

No. of km done: 278
No. of km to target: 722
Conditions: Patchy cloud
Starting music: The Night That Minnie Timperley Died by Pulp
Finishing music: Cecilia by Simon and Garfunkel

Was still a bit behind schedule, so was feeling good and the weather was nice and work not too busy, so have caught up with a surprisingly non-knackering 10-mile run. And now? Now I'm in desperate need of a shower!

Mmm, fragrant!

Tuesday 5 April 2011

Just a quick one...

No. of km done: 254
No. of km to target: 746
Conditions: Grey but warm
Starting music: Chelsea Dagger by The Fratellis
Finishing music: Pink Glove by Pulp

V. busy work-wise this week, so haven't had a chance to update here or upload runs. Doing well though - will be back on schedule give or take a mile by the end of the week, and have now past the 250 km mark. Quarter of the way there!
